| Bombus terrestris
Not to be confused with B.lucorum
These 2 species are v.similar but can be separated by buffiness within the white tail (= terrestris)
Also (but not definitive) the yellow stripes tend to be more orangey in terrestris.
B.terrestris known as buff-tail
B.lucorum known as white-tail
Both mentioned species are amongst the 6 commonly found bumbles in the Midlands (& Tamworth & Sheffield) |
